One of the many advantages of social networking sites is worldwide connectivity, we can talk to anyone in any place in seconds and when it comes to news, we can share them in real-time in one click.

However, the issue now is that we have so much information that we don’t know what is true and what isn’t. There are so many resources saying this and that happened here and not there, that it has become harder to prove what is true and what is false.

Nowadays it is very easy to also lie on the internet about who you are, and pretend to be someone you are not and with so many ways to get personal information from any social media site, people’s identities get stolen.

Privacy is long gone, even if you do not use any social media, chances are your friends do which means pictures of you and your information could still be out there, without you knowing.

Another downside of using social media is that we spend way too much time on it, time that we could actually spend doing something productive. There isn’t a such a thing as just hanging out anymore, whether is with your friends or alone we now feel that we have to let the world know where we are, with who and what we are doing, we have created this huge need of documenting everything we do and sharing it like there is no tomorrow.

So, not only we spend a ridiculous amount of time on virtual websites but we are spending less and less time connected to reality.
